If your panel can't handle a new EV circuit, we upgrade it — sized for your charger today and room to grow tomorrow.
A Level 2 charger draws a lot of power — typically a 40 to 50 amp circuit. Your panel has to have room for that on top of everything else in your home. Older homes with 100-amp panels, or homes that are already running near capacity, often need an upgrade before a charger can be safely added.
Forcing a charger onto a panel that can't handle it is exactly how you get tripped breakers, overheating, and real fire risk. We measure your actual load and tell you straight whether you need an upgrade — we don't sell one you don't need.
When we upgrade a panel, we size it for more than just today's charger. A second EV down the road, a heat pump, a hot tub — a properly sized panel means you won't be paying for another upgrade in two years. We'll talk through what makes sense for your home.
If you need both a panel upgrade and a charger, we do it as one coordinated job — one permit, one inspection, one crew. See our home charger installation page for the full picture, and remember the work may qualify for Colorado rebates.
Not sure if your panel can handle a charger? Call us — we'll assess it and give you a straight answer.

Usually one day, including a short power shutoff during the swap.
$1,500–$3,500 depending on amperage and service entrance work.
Every upgrade is pulled to permit and inspected — safe and legal.
It comes down to your panel's amperage and how much of it is already in use. A 100-amp panel that's already running a full house may not have room for a 40–50 amp EV circuit, while a 200-amp panel usually does. We measure your existing load before recommending anything.
Most residential panel upgrades run $1,500 to $3,500 depending on the amperage, the panel location, and whether the utility service entrance needs work. We give you a flat quote after assessing your setup.
Most upgrades are completed in a day. There's typically a short power shutoff while we swap the panel, and we coordinate the permit and inspection as part of the job.
